Donc, au bout de longs mois de préparation, de nombreux au-revoirs, d’embrassades et de larmes, le jour du déménagement arriva enfin le 4 août !

So, after many months of preparation, many goodbyes, hugs and tears it was finally the day for us to move on August 4th!

Pendant que Rob et les enfants s’occupaient de remplir le camion, je continuais à faire les derniers cartons et à nettoyer la maison. Merci à Simon et Kevin qui arrivèrent tôt le matin pour les aider.

While Rob and the children were busy filling up the van, I was filling up the last boxes and cleaning the house. Thank you to Simon and Kevin who came early in the morning to help them.

Un grand merci également à Lisa, Deb, Sandrine, Erica & Bernie, Olive & Dave et Nee pour leurs aides diverses : peinture, nettoyage, cartons, repas… Vous êtes formidables !! Nous n’aurions jamais pu déménager sans vous !! Nous voudrions aussi remercier tous nos amis qui ont récupéré ou acheté nos plantes et certains de nos meubles et appareils ménagers. Vous nous avez bénis !

A huge thank you also to Lisa, Deb, Sandrine, Erica & Bernie, Olive & Dave and Nee for their help with painting, cleaning, bringing boxes, offering meals… You are wonderful!! We would have never been able to move without you!! We also would like to thank all our friends who took or bought our plants and some of our furniture and white goods. You are a blessing!

Finalement, le camion fut rempli ! Eventually, the van got loaded!

Nous devions encore rendre les clés au propriétaire, donc nous avons pris le temps d’un dernier « Costa », grâce à mes beaux-parents Chas et Ann:

We still had to hand over our keys to the landlord, so we had time for a last « Costa », thanks to my in-laws Chas and Ann:

Finalement, nous avons quitté Swindon à 17h30 et avons rejoint l’hôtel près de Rouen à 1h du matin (heure française) !

Eventually, we left Swindon at 5.30pm and reached our hotel near Rouen at 1am French time!

Le lendemain matin, nous avons mangé un bon petit-déjeuner :

Puis avons repris la route pour finalement arriver à notre nouveau chez nous juste avant 16h !

Then we carried on our journey, to finally arrive to our new home just before 4pm!

A l’arrivée la maison m’a semblée encore plus grande et plus belle que dans ma mémoire ! J’étais heureuse et soulagée, mais j’avais encore du mal à réaliser que nous n’étions pas en vacances, mais bien chez nous !

As we arrived, the house seemed even bigger and better than I remembered it! I was happy and relieved, but still finding it hard to realise that we weren’t on holiday, but really home!

PS: J’avais pris une dernière photo des « roses de la paix » qui poussaient devant notre maison à Swindon ! Elles sont magnifiques et si bien nommées !!
